Dr. Lloyd Van Wyck can perform a mid facelift at his Ottawa, Ontario, to reduce signs of aging in the middle third of the face. Dr. Van Wyck can take years off your appearance by lifting and tightening tissues in the lower eyelids and cheeks, and his years of experience can help you achieve natural-looking rejuvenation. During a consultation, Dr. Van Wyck can take note of your goals to determine if a mid facelift is right for you.
A mid facelift addresses the middle third of the face.
Full Facelift vs. Mid Facelift
A full facelift is designed to address the entire face, from the jawline to the brow. A mid facelift, on the other hand, raises and tightens sagging lower eyelids and fallen cheeks, giving a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance.
What to Expect during a Mid Facelift
Before beginning the surgery, Dr. Van Wyck will administer anesthesia to provide optimal comfort throughout the procedure. He will then make small incisions in the lower lash lines, nasolabial folds, or hairline at the temples to lift, tighten, and reposition the fat and muscle tissue in the midface. As an experienced surgeon with great attention to detail, he will place your incisions in a way that reduces in subdued, easily hidden scars.
Dr. Van Wyck can take years off your face by lifting and tightening skin of the lower eyelids and cheeks.
Before closing the incisions, he will also tighten and remove any excess skin. In most cases, a mid facelift will be performed as an outpatient procedure in about 60 to 90 minutes and you can return home the same day after a short recovery period in our office. Due to the anesthesia involved, you will need to have someone available to drive you home following the procedure. We also recommend having a loved one stay with you for the first 24 hours. Dr. Van Wyck will send you home with detailed postoperative care instructions to minimize side effects.
You may experience some mild swelling and bruising for the first few days, but by keeping your head elevated, taking medications as directed, and using cold compresses, you can expect to be able to return to your normal routine in about seven to 10 days. It may take up to a year for the final results to become apparent.
As with all surgeries, there is risk involved with a mid facelift. These include swelling, bruising, scarring, bleeding, blood clots, nerve damage, and temporary numbness. However, choosing a trusted and experienced surgeon such as Dr. Van Wyck can dramatically reduce your risks and increase the likelihood of excellent results.
Mid facelift patients who trust their care to a reputable surgeon can expect to achieve:
- A younger-looking, happier appearance
- Improved self-confidence
- Significantly reduced signs of aging
- Results that help you look rested and rejuvenated rather than looking like you underwent surgery
