Although written text
and patient photographs are
often a helpful guide when making an informed
decision pertaining to surgery, there is certainly
nothing to compare with a personal consultation.
The patient doctor interaction represents one of
the most important elements to your surgical
evaluation.
If you proceed and book a consultation with Dr.
Van Wyck, it is a personal courtesy to keep your
scheduled appointment. |

|
A set amount of time has been allocated for your
consultation so if you do not
keep your appointment or call to cancel with sufficient notice, this is time which
our office considers wasted.
The office consultation begins with you filling out a medical form which has been
designed to review any known drug allergies, a list of present medications ( to
include aspirin, anti-inflammatories and over the counter remedies) and the
documentation of any particular medical problems ( past and present ). Smoking
history, consideration of future pregnancies, weight loss plans and the specifics
of your daily routines (e.g. exercise and dietary concerns) are all important issues
which will be addressed, since these particular factors may influence the results
of your surgery.
Prior to discussing the specifics of your surgery, Dr. Van Wyck will commence
the consultation by first discussing your cosmetic concerns then will examine the
anatomical area of concern . Establishing the surgical limitations and determining
whether or not you are indeed an appropriate candidate for your particular surgical
request remains the first line of business.
Having completed the examination process, and establishing that you are a
candidate for surgery, Dr. Van Wyck will then outline the details of your proposed
surgical procedure, which will include a review of:
- Pre-operative requirements
- Expectations
- Potential complications
- The recovery process
- Fee structure
Our goal is for your consultation to be both positive and
informative. It is critical
that all questions you might have regarding your surgery be answered during the
consultation process. If for any reason Dr. Van Wyck as well as you the patient
do not feel that the risks, limitations, complications and/or expectations of your
surgery have been completely understood or questions satisfactorily answered,
a repeat consultation (at no cost to you ) will be arranged for a later date.
It is important that you experience a positive interaction with Dr. Van Wyck's
office staff in that many of your questions will be handled by his staff.
From the first phone call, to the answering of your specific questions and making
all appropriate arrangements both Brenda and Victoria look forward to
assisting
you.
